Olifantsdoorn Guest Farm is located in the Breederiver Valley, 11 kilometers from the picturesque town of McGregor and approximately 30km from Robertson on the R317. It produces grapes and apricots and is a member and shareholder of the McGregor Winery.

The farm is situated next to the Riviersonderend Mountains and enjoys expansive views of the Riviersonderend and Langeberg Mountains. It contains large tracts of virgin veldt and biodiversity ranging from Western Cape Fynbos to Klein Karoo Renosterveld. Small game abound which include klipspringer, steenbok, grysbok, rheebok, porcupine, lynx and aardvark, just to name a few. Leopard and baboon are resident in the adjacent Riviersonderend Mountains. A large variety of bird species makes the farm and area a birdwatcher\'s paradise.

Olifantsdoorn offers a variety of activities to tourists including: mountain biking, bird watching, hiking and bass fishing. Accommodation is currently provided for in the form of camping facilities and overnight rooms with a fully equipped kitchen and lapa. Rates are extremely affordable. The farm is approximately 2 hours drive from Cape Town by car, which makes this an ideal weekend getaway destination.

HIKING TRIALS

Boesmanskloof Trail - Drive 16km from the village of McGregor to Die Galg where the 14 km trail winds through picturesque fynbos valleys and gorges, past mountain pools & waterfalls, and finishes in Greyton. Enquiries, bookings and permits: McGregor Tourism Bureau. Tel: 023 625 1954
Kleinberg Trail - Situated just outside the village along the old Robertson Road, this two-hour walk offers spectacular views of McGregor. You end up on what is called 'Badge Hill', where the McGregor crest lies.
Krans Nature Reserve - Here you will see interesting vegetation, lots of birds and magnificent views of the surrounding hills as well as the dam and the village. There are six short walks from entrances in Smit, van Reenen & Voortrekker Streets. The heritage Society is the official custodian of the Reserve.
Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve - This reserve is situated about 5km outside the village on the Robertson Road. Self issue permits are available at the reserve for the following trails:
Heron Trail - this easy 3km walk can be enjoyed in about an hour of walking. The route leads over fairly flat terrain to two dams, each with an attractive bird hide.
Rooikat Trail - this circular 18km trail winds through the Elandsberg Mountains, offering scenic viws of the Langeberg and RIviersonderend mountains. The route is fairly strenuous and requires 7 to 8 hours of walking.

CYCLING ROUTES

Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve - Situated 5km outside the village on the Robertson road. A pleasant circular route of 8km which takes about an hour and meanders through a section of the reserve.
Old Robertson Road - Cycle from the village on a quiet dirt road through working farmland. 3 Options: Out and back, as far as tou like, a 17km circular route, a 28km circular route.
Rhebokskraal Road - Dirt farm road from the village through a drift, cycling between the vines and back into the village via the Stormsvlei road. 2 Options: 8km and 14km.
Strykhoogte Pass - Dirt road from the village along the Stormsvlei Road, up over the Strykhoogte Pass and Back into the village via the Robertson road. Quite strenuous. 32km
Hills of McGregor - Follow the footpaths up, over and around the hills of McGregor. Scenic. 8km.
