The working studio gallery of internationally recognised oil painter Joni-Leigh Doran.

BIO: Formally trained as a graphic designer (ND, 2003), Joni-Leigh studied the techniques of oil painting under renowned South African artist Ryno Swart during his later years. She aims to depict the beauty and fragility of the interconnectedness of ourselves with other animals and the natural environment through her work. Rather than striving to paint what she sees, her aim is to capture feeling, atmosphere and light. In April 2024, she opened her working Studio Gallery in the heart of McGregor, the village she calls home.

Recent accomplishments include making the Top 100 in the 2023 Rust-en-Vrede Portrait Award with her portrait titled ‘Apnea’, and winning the “Facing Extinction” category of the 2022 David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year with her painting titled ‘Anyone Out There?’.
