Tanagra Guestfarm

TANAGRA is a working wine farm situated next to Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. We offer comfortable accommodation in well appointed guest cottages, produce handcrafted wines and stylish Grappa and Eau de Vie. An old wild fig tree gave the farm its name, ‘Tanagra’ – it echoes the Khoisan expression for a well-shaded place. This giant tree canopies the historic homestead and winery, providing welcoming shade during the hot days of summer.

Enjoy  the beautiful landscapes, mountain views and sunsets, and experience life on a working farm. Tanagra offers 6 self-catering apartments and cottages, some situated at the main farm, close to the historic homestead (Garden cottage, Loft studio, Bottlebrush, Gumtree), with a swimming pool in the garden, others are tucked away in the wild fynbos of the surrounding hills (Hill cottage, Faraway), with private plunge pools.

The best thing to do is to simply rest and unwind with a good book and a glass of wine in the garden or on your stoep, and explore the farm for walks or to watch birds which are there in abundance. Tanagra farm is 78ha in size and for most parts accessible by various walking/hiking trails (also great for mountain-biking) ranging from a leisurely 10 minutes’ walk to a couple of hours’ hike.  Wine & Grappa Tasting available on the farm (booking essential).

Garden cottage, sleeps 2, current rate R 1500 per night for 2 persons sharing (R 1600 from October 2024)

Loft studio, sleeps 2, current rate R 1400 per night for 2 persons sharing (R 1450 per night from October 2024)

Bottlebrush and Gumtree apartments, each sleep 2 persons, either let individually or as a unit, current rate R 1250 per night/apartment for 2 persons sharing (R 1350 per night from October 2024)

Secluded cottages (away from the main farm):

Hill cottage, sleeps 2, current rate R 1800 per night for 2 persons sharing (R  1950 per night from October 2024)

Faraway cottage, sleeps 4 in 2 en-suite bedrooms, current rate R 3000 per night for 4 persons sharing (R 3300 per night from October 2024)
