The Krans Nature Reserve, situated on the outskirts of the village of McGregor in the Breederiver Valley, was developed by the McGregor Heritage Society with funds given by the Rowlands and Leta Hill Trust, under the auspices of WWF South Africa.
The Reserve is part of the meent or commonage of McGregor and used to be available to all the villagers for grazing livestock. Historically it was also used as a dump. Old bottles, blue glass, and other treasures from the time are still found.
